Sports
Code of Conduct
For
Parents, Athletes, and Coaches
-
I
am a role model, whether as a coach, spectator, or participant in a game or
practice.
-
I
understand that the principles of good sportsmanship include integrity,
fairness, respect, and ethical behavior.
-
I will show respect to all players, coaches, spectators,
and officials, both at practice and games.
-
As a coach, I will not only teach the athletes the skills
of the game, but also teach them how to win and lose graciously.
I will teach the athletes that one can play hard and be competitive
while still having fun and showing respect for others on the playing field
or court.
-
I understand that the recreational sports programs offered
by Pisgah A.R.P. Church, while competitive, are intended to be educational
and fun for children of all ages and athletic ability.
-
I
will refrain from disrespectful behavior, including inappropriate language,
taunting, trash talking, and unnecessary physical contact.
-
I will participate in cheers that support, encourage, and
uplift the teams involved, not degrade or tear down a coach or child.
-
As a parent, I understand that the sports coaches used by
Pisgah A.R.P. Church are volunteers, sacrificing their time to teach my
child. I will show my support for the coach by bringing my child to
practice and games on time. If
I have a conflict or disagreement with a coach, I will endeavor to resolve
said conflict in a respectful manner and at an appropriate time.
-
I
understand that referees and officials in a game are human and that mistakes
are inevitable. I will question
judgment calls at an appropriate time and in a respectful manner, realizing
that, while seemingly important at the time, a missed call will probably not
affect my child’s continued growth and development.
-
When all else fails, remember the Golden Rule:
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
As parent, I understand and agree to follow the guidelines of the Pisgah
A.R.P. Church of Gastonia Recreation Program as noted above.
I will encourage my children to adhere to these principles also.
Any problems with above guidelines will be reported to Doug Brown. The phone number at Pisgah A.R.P. Church is 704-865-7611.
